Ever have those days?

You wake up...you are in a great mood.

You get ready, and head off to work, and all feels right in the world.

You get to work and in a matter of 2.5 seconds that wonderful feeling changes to one of dour and sour.

Yep that seems to continue to happen.

I love when a manager starts a group meeting with, "now I don't want to have to write any of you up, but I will if I have to!"

It makes me want to ask, if she is threatening us. She comes and goes as she pleases (salaried position) and prefers not to go on tours...and will not work an ounce over her 8 hours.

I know when I was a salaried manager, I often was required to work well over 8 hours on a regular basis...OH!!! and she gets every weekend off, and I have not had one!!! and my other coworker has had 3 off since I started. I had to beg for a weekend off in August!

Ok folks, thank for listening to me moan and groan!

Isn't it inspiring to work for someone who is such a "people person"...who really knows how to motivate and encourage teamwork? LOL I work for a guy just like that. Last year he met new staff by saying..."if you don't really want to work here, I'll show you the door"...what a charmer, huh?

I absolutely hate working on weekends. It used to make me so angry, and I'm sure I quit more than one job over it. But that was when I was young and dumb.

When I was supervisor I never once threatened to write anyone up. I just did it when it was needed. I never got into the threaten everybody all the time to keep them in line game.

Hope you have a good day.

Sounds like your supervisor could use some serious management lessons.

Hope her boss sees her acting this poorly, and setting such a bad example, and gives her what-for.

Hope your week improves!!!!

I'm a 'salaried manager' and I can't recall ever working 8 hours a day! 10's average. Geez...

Hope things look up for you soon!

I hear ya! Back in my day it was "assumed" that salaried personnel (like I was) would work a MINIMUM of 45 hours a week.

Feh.

Time to begin checking job boards?

Too often supervisors become such as a reward for being highly productive/successful workers. Of course, the skills needed to produce "x" number of widgets in a day or make "x" number of sales are not the same skills needed by a supervisor, so this kind of promotion has dismal results. I wonder if that's what happened in your situation.

I would begin keeping my eyes and ears open for other employment. Life is too short (and too much of it is spent at work) for you to be under-appreciated. Your manager knows nothing about managing people.

Barb..I echo the sentiments of the Wizened Wizard...

With more of the same experience you're bound to experience burn out....and life is to short to burn out...Plus..the stress can cause bad skin ( that's what the lady at the Ponds counter told me after coaxing me to rub on the new 7 day Miracle Cream..).

Look..I'm going to meditate and send you good vibes over a glass of Pinot Noir ( he! he!)later tonight..around 8 pm..which would probably be 8 or so there in your world...Just know that somebody's thikin' of you round that time...

I like my boss--the one in charge of everyone. I have 2 others: one is great and one is fine as long as he isn't around certain people, then he changes. I find that to be creepy. Bosses who fuck with me are stupid; I will work my heart out for anyone who treats me well and just listens to my ideas every now and then. I am not hard to please. But I've worked for enough people to know that a lot of bosses get insecure about their authority and want to let you know they are DA BOMB as in NUCLEAR!!! Bosses of that sort need to get over themselves.
