No help

Ok guys!!! Where are you guys at when I really need you??

This morning at 4:45 I had the crap scared outta me!!

For the last week I have been house sitting for a couple that is vacationing in Washington.

They have a dog and a cat. (Dog is worthless, its afraid of its own shadow)

So there I was sound asleep on the couch with the cat sleeping with me.

And next thing I know there is loud crashing, banging noise. I jumped up and grabbed the phone and called 911, ran to the pantry area and grabbed a large stick that was there and waited for the police. They showed up and walked the perimeter, and the house. Whatever it was was long gone, but there was ZERO chance of me being to fall back to sleep....

I hate the feeling of wondering if there is someone going to break in!!! SCARY!!

That was me and then I saw you with that big stick and I hod under the couch, that cat found me and I was scared that it was Muffin and I knew that SJ had him, so then I just thought the hell with it and left ...

Spongy- LOL thanks, I feel better now knowing it was you and not some weirdo!

SJ said...

You mean not some OTHER weirdo ? LOL.

That must have been scary get a better dog. The type that bites intruders.

you know if you had plucked some feathers off I may have stayed ...

How big was the stick? Was it big enough for you to do some damage with it? I have a baseball bat that I keep handy. Just in case.

Ok, I have a couple of other weapons too.

Did you look around after sunrise to see if anything had been messed with?

and I'm not just some intruder! I'm the one and only!

Just to say... it's so hot here in KC that I think I saw Satan driving an ice cream truck ... could have been him looking for a place to cool off.

Did you ever figure it out?

Glad your OK, Barb. Home invasions can be unplesant; Just thinking about being in a house that's getting broken into is a scary thing. In Detroit, you never know what would happen if the get in.

Even the venerated Rosa Parks was punched in the face by a burglar a couple years before she died. He broke in she confronted him with a broom in her hands, he realized who she was, said he was sorry, then decked her in the face. He was caught and sent to Wayne County Jail (detroit's very own) for a long while beofre finaly getting sentenced to Jackson Prison, again, a staple instituition in the motor city.

Never heard about the guy again Rosa Parks is a legend for not giving up her bus seat. Even though the guy that broke into her house was also black, I'm sure he was probably beaten nearly to death a few times while in the joint for attacking an old lady, but also beyonf that for who she was and what she accomplished through sticking to her own beliefs about what she was supposed to do or how to act.

Just food for thought. Take care
peace out.

OMG...scary indeed! Pepper Spray!

The only time that someone really broke into my house...I slept through it all. Actually I awoke, but questioned if I really had heard anything & just went back to sleep. Luckily for all of us, they knew just what they wanted ... jewelry & money from downstairs & never even came upstairs.

At least Ur ok. I hate being scared like that... I usually try to have some kind of deadly weapon on my bedside table just in case...

I don't know if this makes me brave or stupid, but I'd have checked it out before calling the police. I hate to waste their time, and usually (especially when there are animals in a house) it's nothing that can't be explained away by finding out where each animal was at the time of the chaos. Take it from someone with three cats and a dog. LOL!

Rough night sister, hope tonight is better.

Just a thought, but if someone was trying to break in they would try to be quiet about it I think (somehow that doesn't read as comforting as I meant it to be). It was probably some sort of animal messing in the trash or something.

Whatever it was I hope it doesn't come back and that you sleep deeply and peacefully tonight. I'll be thinking of you.

Do you know Ted Nugent? Tell him to head on over with his crossbow. No one will fuck with you again. He has saved me many a time.

Dang!!! How freaky!!! We woke up this past march to hearing the door swing open, quietly but the hinges squeek. So the door opens & DH and I were instantly awake, and DH is in his boxers & I'm in a tank & shorts & he doesn't have a single thing to defend himself with. My pepper-spray was in my coat pocket hanging next to the front door. I handed him a small baton-sized batt I have and he wandered the house in his skivvies with a batt, not sure what he was going to do if he actually found anybody. Wouldn't you know it, Jenny slept through it, in her kennel & Puck was cowering on the computer-room floor, freaked & quiet! *shaking head*

I hope it was simply animals tipping over a trash-bin. Stay safe, sweety, as you house-sit for these folks. Make sure the blinds are closed, maybe leave a light on in a different room all night, and at the very least try to keep a canister of pepper-spray handy to you. (((((HUGS))))) and *good-night's sleep* vibes coming your way.

Oh. Meant to say, it was simply a very strong gust of wind & a poorly-latched door, our supposed "break-in". Had my FIL laughing his @$$ off, and my dad about ready to bean us for not properly latching the door & locking it before we went to bed. *wink*

Yikes!!
Why didn't you call me? I would have jumped in my car, and by the next morning I would have been there!!!!

Okay, so maybe that doesn't work.....
Glad you are okay!!
Love ya :))

Would have scared me, thats for sure. I used to sleep with a baseball by my bed when the kids were smaller. But then I had my dog Thunder outside. He never really barked, except at joggers, who jogged much faster, but he scared people when he looked at them.

WTF, a baseball bat, is what i meant to say. A baseball, what to play catch?!? I scare myself sometimes.

What's worse than being scared to death in the middle of the night? I guess being in scared to death in the middle of the night in somebody else's house... but I'm glad whatever it was left and you were all right. I wasn't sleeping, so you could have called me. ; )

Barb~ Did they get you?! Where are you, girl?

Craig D said...

I'd have been no help even if I was there. Typical conversation...

Wife: Wow, did you hear that thunder storm last night?

Me: What thunderstorm?
