Still Around

Nope, I have not fallen off the face of the earth.

I am having a hard time balancing work, my few extra curricular activities and computer time....

Yesterday, I was having a conversation with a friend, and I was telling her how much I miss it when I can't make my visits to my friends...and I ended up laughing because she is not a blogger and doesn't understand that my daily trip around bloggerville is like an addiction...

I miss Enemy, Spongy, Jay, Chucky, Echo, Queen Anne, Greg and I could go on and on...but you get my point.

Right now I am in a dilemma.

I am not necessarily happy in my new job. I love the actual work I do...I am a people person and get to deal with people on a daily basis and I have met some of the nicest most interesting people...but there are a few things that are really grating against my nerves at work...

At this point I am trying to decide, if I want to try to stick it out and see if I can bear these annoyances, or if I should start looking for something else.

I loved my other job that I got laid off of, I was there for over 2 years...and I want to be some place like that to be able to enjoy going to work...

Right now, I'm not really crazy about my "career path" as it were, so I feel for you. My main objectives are routinely swept aside to respond to other peoples' "emergencies" and I'm just now coming out of a bad period with someone who was purposely avoiding me, but needed my help in servicing her clients. This made for a really bad time, lemme tell ya.

If you think you can "clear the air" where you are, give it a try. If it looks unlikely that would help, then move one, dot org!

My case is different I have great people and am getting all these concessions for my surgery but I find the work BORING. I've been doing the same thing for years now. Am going to stick it out till I am done - then either they move me to a diff. thing or else...

You need to enjoy your work. No job is perfect, but if you dread going to work, it will play havoc with every other aspect of life. Start looking.

No advice, just wishing you best of luck with whatever course of action you choose.

I'm glad you posted. I was missing you and getting a little worried.

Maybe you can start casually looking around for something new while still giving this job a little more time. That way you might end up with some options. Options are good.

funny, but I remember when my job was an "escape" from the havoc of everyday life, I got on the highway in the morning, turned the music way up and entered another world from 9 to 5, same job, years later, and well, I dread it....

Would we stay with a lover who annoyed the hell out of us? Or a house we hated wanderin' in? I think we need to start typing resumes, girl!

I don't have any advice for you, although, I would like to say that you really do need to be happy in your work, and if you aren't then I advice that you think about your situation carefully, and think carefully about what you want to do. Don't know if that helps at all, but I hope it does.

Well, you could try both... try to see if the minor annoyances are something that you can handle with the hopes that they dissipate while searching for viable, gainful work elsewhere. We spend too much time at work to be miserable at it.

Once the annoyances of your job starts spilling into your personal life then I'd really start to think if you're in the right place. When you're jobs a total bummer it can really get in the way of everything else. I'm sure you'll do great at whatever you do!

Awwww, I miss you too, but I've been kind of busy too. Sorry to hear you don't like the job. It wouldn't hurt to look for something else, would it? That's what I think. Why work with someone who threatens you? Obviously there's something wrong with her.

I miss you, too, Barb. Glad for your new relationship, though, and I read your posts and responses at our friends.

Write. Stay away from blogs for a while and we'll seek you out, but don't neglect thyself and what is important to you. Hope the job smoothes out or just pans out as much as you need it to. Take care.

It can't hurt to look into some other options...

Good luck and glad to know that you're still out there!

I am so lucky to be a house husband...

I've noticed that a lot of us are not blogging as regularly as we do in the winter months.

We've been doing so much with the new baby and enjoying the summer that it is hard to get a post in on daily basis.

I did just finish a three parter so I hope quality will make up for my lack of quantity lately.

Hello and I too miss my friends when I don't see you for awhile...

Exploring the possibilities - as long as you don't tell anyone you're doing so - can do no harm, and as long as you have a job, you are under no real pressure to take a new one. That's a good situation to be in, and employers prefer to hire someone who is already working somewhere. Just begin looking at the possibilities.

Barb-
So good to see you...blog addiction! LOL- I totally understand :) (me too!)
About the job: One time my dad told me, in regards to a job that he disliked, that it was just as important to know what you DON'T want to do- as it is to find out what you enjoy.

The older I get the more truth I see in his words. The perfect job is elusive at best, but jobs that make us miserable are easier to spot. Your manager is NOT a team player, and that fact alone is reason not to stay on her team. You are on your own working for her, and that is unfortunate.

I'm thinking of you- hope that all good things will come your way, and that you will have not only a sense of peace about what to do, but also an abundance of courage to step out and make the necessary changes to enhance your life.
Only YOU have the power to make YOU happy~ it's true :)

I could have sworn I commented on this post yesterday. I think I'm losing my mind...

Anyway I hate my job, but it pays the bills and the hours are great. So I'm pretty much stuck there. But work is very important to you so I think you should find something that's going to make you happy.

Captain~ blogger has been eating comments left & right this week (I thought it was just me, but talked to sister last night & it's been happening to her too) I think it's a conspiracy to make us all think we are losing our minds.
Barb...Quit your Job, have Spongy pick you up in his eighteen wheeler & let's go to the waters' edge!

If you're thinking about looking, then, chances are, you probably are already leaning toward looking. Sometimes just knowing you have another option makes everything rosier. Hope things get better. I don't always leave a comment, but I always read.

I've been in a blogging slump as well. I'll blame it on the heat...

Seems like everyone is in a blogging slump. Summer, I guess. Good luck with the job issues. My advice: go for something you have a passion for...
