Random Thoughts

I have so much to say, but with all the thoughts buzzing around in my head, nothing is simply flowing from my thoughts to my fingertips....

First I wanted to mention the tragedy that occurred today at Virginia Tech. So sad that so many lives were lost. Seems if the school had reacted faster there may have been less life lost. I am NOT attacking the school, but just concerned that they thought an email two hours after the first shooting was sufficient. But having so little information available yet, does little to help us understand what happened. My heart goes out to all of the students and their families.

I have not been blogging as much as I normally do since returning from my vacation. My heart has not been in it. First I returned to the news of Baron passing, and the next day I went into work and was laid off. I don't understand why they even brought me back if things were that bad for the company, but that is another blog of its own.

I have never drawn unemployment, and never thought I would need to, don't get me wrong, I am grateful to have that to fall back on, but I really want to work. I enjoy working and being productive. I have been so depressed, I know that I did not cause this, but I have been depressed none the less.

Don't even get me started on trying to find a job again. I get sick of having to "sell" myself. And if I see one more "must be bilingual" I am gonna....well I am not gonna do anything, but why do I have to be bilingual just to get a job in my country where I was born and raised...that boils my blood. Now, I am not being judgemental or racial...I do speak quite a bit of Spanish, but not enough for a job or to be considered bilingual.

But on the brighter side I did have an interview today and it seemed to go very well, they said I would know their decision by the end of the week....Please send good job vibes my way....

Hang in there Barb. I'm pulling for you.

The incident that happened at Virginia Tech is gut wrenching to say the least.

Laid off? Well, maybe you'll have a good reference from these folks.

Unemployment insurance is a beautiful thing. My last snap of unemployment outlasted the payments by 3 months, though.

I hear ya, as far as having to sell yourself at interviews. I, personally, don't know what it is that employers are even LOOKING for these days! Suit, tie, resume, references, extensive work history and experience. NEXT!!!!

It's nice that you got to have a vacation before all this happened. ENjoy your "Unemployment Honeymoon" while it lasts. You'll be back at it soon enough!

Best wishes!

Ge I think we really are related. Murphy's Law follows me and it sounds like you might have a little. You will see it will pass and things will look up. Think of your job search as an adventure.

Hopefully you'll have good news by the end of the week. :)

The shooting...it just breaks my heart. I don't understand how somebody gets to a point where they think it's a good idea. And things like that seem to be happening more and more. It's so very sad...

Good luck with the job hunt! I have been there before and its hard.

I know what you mean about the blogging. I haven't been into it the way I was either. Its hard sometimes. Its meant to be an outlet for us to poor our hearts out into but sometimes it just doesn't come out the way we hope it will. Depression really can take its toll too...

Just remember there are those of us out there that care and are keeping you in our thoughts!

Take care of you and don't forget to smile!

The shooting was awful and gutting... I just cant even imagine. Ironically I got an email from a friend in London who alerted me to it! So while they didnt react quickly, the media did.

Sorry to hear about the job thing. I was laid off once and like you, it was not a reflection of something I did or didnt do, but it messed up my psychie none the less.

Ok heres so you can ocntinue to do what you are doing to find a job and while you do that, why not look at jobs you you always thought you might want to try but couldnt. Just for kicks. Like working for a great designer or winery... disney land ...idk ...just a thought...

It particularly stinks just having come back from vacation too! There is something to be said for collecting SS during the summer though... if you have to have time on your hands, at least its warm! Come back to Fl!!! =]

And above all, remember that its a tempory state. Try to focus on the positive (that said by a girl who takes antidepressants! lmao!)

Best of luck on the new job. I am thinking very positive thoughts about it and I really hope you get it.

I do know a voodoo lady though if you want me to ask her to Mix up a potion and chant the name of the person that laid you off. It is an option that I will hold open for you so just think about it. :)

I am being attacked from both sides today and I told a guy that works for me (who was complaining about having to work at work????)that McDonands was hiring if he wanted to put in his resignation. I like to throw that in from time to time just to check the runner so to speak. I am feeling so lucky right now, I think I may buy a lottery ticket this afternoon. How is that for positive?

Gosh Barb.... What a bummer of a week or so it's been for you!!! And for a great many other people, it seems.... The shooting yesterday. My mom's best friend just got news last night that she's got maybe 3 years left to live (she's got cancer in the plasma of her blood, but don't recall the technical name for it). And she's only 50, and has a 21 year old daughter, and lost her own hubby to cancer 3 years ago....

All these horrific life-changing events really seem to come in clusters. Adding your job sitch to my list of prayers. *smile*

Otherwise sending (((((HUGS))))).

Oh Bardouble I am so sorry! That is just awful. It doesn't help that you came home from a wonderful and relaxing vaction only to find that a friend has died and you lost your job. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. {{{hugs}}}

Aw...somehow these things(getting laid off) seem to happen at the least appropriate time, but it always works out in the long run! So far, this Spring has been a whirlwind for you! Luckily, you're a fairytale-come-true of a person and can just dance right along with whirlwinds that threaten to sweep you off your feet!
